Production Manager – Debert, NS

 

The Production Manager, reporting directly to the Plant Manager, is accountable to ensure that manufacturing activities in their department are of exceedingly high quality and are conducted safely, efficiently, and enjoyably.  This individual will properly allocate staff to meet sales forecasts and produce on schedule while working closely with other departments on improvement projects. The Production Manager is accountable for department safety, quality, efficiency, rework, training, coaching, and disciplining employees.

 

Safety

  • Develop the safety culture within the team.
  • Set high standards and high expectations when it comes to following safety protocols.
  • Improve the JOHSC walkthrough in their department to achieve and exceed compliance.
  • Actively seek to identify and correct potential hazards or unsafe conditions BEFORE accidents happen.
  • Encourage open dialogue with all team members when it comes to safe practices and ideas.
  • Work with the safety coordinator and quality team to ensure all OIs include accurate descriptions of safe processes and correct PPE for each task in their department.

 

Quality

  • Accountable for meeting or exceeding the quality expectations of Kohltech’s customers.
  • Accountable to achieve the target score for the department on the weekly QI inspection.
  • Never let a product leave their department that they would not want installed in their own home.
  • Work with the quality team to ensure all OIs are accurate and detailed enough to be used as training documents.
  • Continually look for opportunities to improve consistency in the process, e.g. standardization, use of jigs etc.

 

Efficiency

  • Hold the team accountable to production targets.
  • Accurately record reasons for downtime at the bottlenecks and fixing or correcting the root causes.
  • Challenge the Team Leaders to find efficiencies within the steps of their individual tasks.
  • Work with the managers and industrial engineers to streamline processes.
  • Remove obstacles and barriers for your team, provide them with the tools, materials, and space they need to be successful.

 

Rework Cost

  • Accurately track rework so resources are applied to fixing the right things.
  • Look for ways to decrease rework through process improvements.

 

Training

  • Evaluate the performance of all employees.
  • Ensure trainees are paired with the right trainer.
  • Carefully and thoroughly explain all safety, quality, and efficiency expectations of each task.
  • Consider training from the perspective of the employees who are new to the task.
  • Ensure cross training within the department covers all positions with no gaps.

 

Coaching

  • Identify those employees who have potential for further training or responsibilities.
  • Mentor those who want to learn more.
  • Grow future leaders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree, Business Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Experience working with quality systems.
  • Knowledge and experience leading lean manufacturing projects is an asset.
  • Project management experience is an asset.
  • Ability to solve problems through root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and aptitude are required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

PRODUCTION WORKERS

We are actively recruiting candidates at our manufacturing facility in Debert, NS.

Our ideal production worker candidate is comfortable working with hand tools, is able to read a tape measure and understands the importance of producing a quality product. They must also have an excellent work ethic and attitude and contribute to a positive, friendly and safe work environment.

Customer Service Manager – Atlantic Region

 

Reports to:                  Director of Sales and Marketing

 

Location:                    Debert, NS

 

The Customer Service Manager will be responsible for the overall direction and management of the Atlantic customer service and warranty teams and operations within these departments.

 

Job Duties:

  • Manage workflows to achieve goals and exceed customer expectations; handle escalated customer calls when necessary.
  • Report on progress of specific goals and objectives and monitor activities of the customer service representatives while providing leadership. This includes communicating the corporate vision and core values while living the Kohltech brand.
  • Support the service coordinator and field service technicians with day-to-day business processes, communication, and problem resolution.
  • Review service anomalies and initiate preventative actions where appropriate.
  • Able to motivate staff to meet corporate objectives, keep informed of changes, determine goals, and assign responsibility.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about product lines.
  • Communicate with production and management personnel as required to meet company objectives and customer needs.
  • Responsible for hiring and developing customer and warranty service team members.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Commerce or equivalent.
  • Experience in the building supply industry is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with manufacturing business processes would be beneficial.
  • Retail and/or sales management experience required.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Decision making ability.
  • Attention to detail and a hands-on approach to supporting direct reports.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.

SHIPPER (Edmonton)

Job Summary: Perform duties related to shipping finished product: packaging, loading trucks, building wood crates, help with customer pick ups. Employees are responsible to integrate themselves into our team environment and culture. We are looking for an employee with proven hands on experience from a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate is energetic, motivated with a positive attitude and willing to invest what it takes to grow with our company.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 50-75lbs consistently throughout the day.
  • Go out for site deliveries as delivery driver assistant.
  • Punctual
  • Prior experience driving a forklift is an asset
  • Prior experience with power hand tools is an asset
