PRODUCTION WORKERS

We are actively recruiting candidates at our manufacturing facility in Debert, NS.

Our ideal production worker candidate is comfortable working with hand tools, is able to read a tape measure and understands the importance of producing a quality product. They must also have an excellent work ethic and attitude and contribute to a positive, friendly and safe work environment.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (Debert)

Job Summary: The Customer Service Representative is responsible for responding to dealer inquiries and ensuring the highest level of customer service. The CSR will work with our dealers to identify their needs, create solutions, and ensure a successful sales process for their customers. They will also support our territory sales teams by fostering the growth of our existing dealers and supporting our efforts to expand our market share.

Job Duties:

  • Offer fact-based product solutions to dealers and potential clients, to ensure our product offering meets their long-term goals.
  • Respond to daily customer inquiries and promote the Quality and Service of the Kohltech brand to achieve revenue potential.
  • Maintain service to existing customer base to maximize revenue returns.
  • Deliver quotations for products to dealers/customers in an expedient manner.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about evolving product lines.
  • Proactive resolution of specific customer-related issues, and professional support of all customer inquiries.
  • Communicate daily with Production, Scheduling, Shipping and R&D Departments to meet company objectives and customer needs.
  • Other duties as required to support our network of companies.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or a combination of education and relevant work experience would be preferred.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience interacting with others in a professional (B2B) setting and building client relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment without supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities based upon customer needs.
  • Strong level of computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Products required.
  • Exposure or experience with carpentry and/or building supplies would be considered an asset.

PRODUCTION TEAM LEADER (Debert)

Job Summary: Reporting directly to the department Production Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for department safety, quality, efficiency, rework cost, training, and coaching.

Safety

  • Develop the safety culture within the team.
  • Set high standards and high expectations when it comes to following safety protocols.
  • Improve JOHSC walkthrough in their department to achieve and exceed compliance.
  • Actively seek to identify and correct potential hazards or unsafe conditions BEFORE accidents happen.
  • Encourage open dialogue with all team members when it comes to safe practices and ideas.
  • Work with the safety coordinator and quality team ensure all OIs include accurate descriptions of safe processes and correct PPE for each task in their department.

Quality

  • Meet or exceed the quality expectations of Kohltech’s customers.
  • Achieve the target score for the department on the weekly OI inspection.
  • Never let a product leave their department that they would not want installed in their own home.
  • Work with the quality team to ensure all OIs are accurate and detailed enough to be used as training documents.
  • Continually look for opportunities to improve consistency in the process, e.g. standardization, use of jigs etc.

Efficiency

  • Hold the team accountable to production targets.
  • Make sure the team understands the importance of on-time start up at the beginning of the shift and after each break.
  • Accurately record reasons for downtime at the bottlenecks so resources are applied to fixing the right things.
  • Challenge the team to find efficiencies within the steps of their individual tasks.
  • Work with the managers and industrial engineers to streamline processes.
  • Remove obstacles and barriers for your team, provide them with the tools, materials, and space they need to be successful.

Rework Cost

  • Accurately track rework so resources are applied to fixing the right things.

Training

  • Evaluate the performance of new hires to help make decisions on who passes probation.
  • Carefully and thoroughly explain all safety, quality, and efficiency expectations of each task.
  • Consider training from the perspective of the employees who are new to the task.
  • Ensure cross training within the department covers all positions with no gaps.

Coaching

  • Identify those employees who have potential for further training or responsibilities.
  • Mentor those who want to learn more.
  • Grow future leaders.
  • Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Qualifications

  • A proven track record for being safety minded and adhering to safety standards.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in manufacturing.
  • Expected to have or quickly acquire a strong technical knowledge of the process.
  • Leadership experience considered an asset.
  • Proven leadership abilities: Excellent organizational skills, demonstrated problem solving abilities, good writing and communication skills, ability to foster a team environment, positive attitude, self-assured, goal oriented, quality minded, resourceful.
  • Proven ability to handle line balancing.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality record.
  • Able to work overtime when needed.

DRAFTSPERSON

Job Summary: The Draftsperson works closely with other members of the Product Development Team, and with Sales and Marketing and Operations to design, develop, and maintain our products in a way that maximizes utility and performance while meeting or exceeding regulatory requirements and considering ease of manufacturing. The Draftsperson will be responsible for preparing drawings and specifications, maintaining certifications, and participating in certain other activities related to the development and introduction of new product options, new products, and new equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Graduate or CET familiar with Autocad.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered an asset.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to think logically.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and aptitude are required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
